Novak Djokovic fulfilled his promise to meet social media influencer and superfan Justus Reid at the US Open so that he could listen to a self-composed song in his honor.

Reid, an American who lives in the Balkans, wrote a song titled 'Dare to Dream' celebrating the illustrious career of 23-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic. He procured some help from Djokovic's diehard fans in creating what he called a visual masterpiece.

The music video was uploaded by Reid at the end of August on his YouTube channel, and later on, took to Instagram to request Djokovic fans to augment his song in the hope it would reach the Serbian star. That video request was viewed over one million times on Instagram.

"Novak is playing at the US Open and it's my dream to play my song for him. How am I gonna do that? The music video is live on YouTube now. And if you share this video, maybe Novak will see this video."

Reid's request was massively viewed on Instagram

Eventually, it caught Djokovic's attention. After documenting his journey from the Balkans all the way to New York to meet his hero in person, a reel he titled, 'Dreams Do Come True - the Impossible Happened', the three-time US Open champion was able to meet him in the company of Julie - his staunchest supporter who apparently is also a co-writer of the song.

Reid sang the song in the presence of Djokovic after one of Djokovic's practice sessions at Flushing Meadows. And the two had a jovial moment together. Reid was certainly over the moon and Djokovic was certainly bewildered, but equally ecstatic and impressed by the young fan's initiative. And Djokovic appears to have made another promise to Reid after their first official encounter.

"Thanks for promoting Serbia man. It's really great everyone loves you. When I come back to Serbia this is what we're gonna do. We're gonna repeat this but with a guitar and everything and I'll be part of the music video for the song."
