From June 26th to July 1st, players will have a great chance to not only prepare for the third Grand Slam of the season, but also earn some valuable prize money and ranking points at one of the two WTA 500 tournaments on grass, the 2023 Eastbourne International.
As always, almost all of the players from the top of the WTA Rankings sign up for the tournament and it wasn't a surprise when the initial cut-off for the tournament was only the 32nd place.
But despite a lot of star-power competing in Eastbourne, the two highest ranked players, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka made a decision not to compete at this WTA 500 tournament. While the Pole will compete in Bad Homburg, the Belarusian is skipping this week in the calendar altogether.
Although their absence will be felt, the list of names on the entry list will surely make up for it. The reigning Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina, two-time Wimbledon champion, Petra Kvitova, but also players from the Top 10 such as Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, and Ons Jabeur will all play in Eastbourne.
Moreover, they will be joined by a lot of players who are all considered contenders at any tournament that they join. The list of those names includes Maria Sakkari, Daria Kasatkina, Barbora Krejcikova, and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
But it doesn't end there. Karolina Pliskova, Jelena Ostapenko, and Paula Badosa will all compete at the tournament too, and to see the full star-studded entry list for the 2023 Eastbourne International, make sure to see it below.
