2023 Birmingham Classic WTA Draw With Williams, Svitolina, Ostapenko & more

From June 19th to 25th, the grass-court season will continue at the 2023 Birmingham Classic and the draw is known already.

Last year, Beatriz Haddad Maia won the WTA 250 tournament in Birmingham, but this year, the Brazilian won't compete. Shortly after her Top 10 breakthrough, Haddad Maia picked up an injury and she was forced to withdraw from two grass-court tournaments, including the 2023 Birmingham Classic.

But her absence will give a chance to other players. The first-seeded Barbora Krejcikova will want to be one of them but the Czech player doesn't know a lot about her draw. In the first round, she'll play against one of the qualifiers, and her second-round opponent will be no different as it will be also one of the qualifiers.

Elina Svitolina will compete in Birmingham too after making the Roland Garros quarterfinals. The Ukrainian will play against a talented teenager from the Czech Republic, Linda Fruhvirtova, with a possible all-Czech match in the second round as Marie Bouzkova will play against the sixth-seeded Bernarda Pera.

The fifth-seeded Anhelina Kalinina will play against Alycia Parks and fans in Birmingham will see also an all-British first-round match between Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage.

A very interesting first-round match will be played between the fourth-seeded Anastasia Potapova and Marta Kostyuk, as the two met earlier this year in Miami and there was no handshake between them.

At the bottom of the draw, Venus Williams will continue her comeback run. The American will start against Camila Giorgi from Italy with a projected second-round match against either the second-seeded Jelena Ostapenko or Linda Noskova.
