Draw of the 2022 Madrid Open took part with the help of Simona Halep who triumphed in Madrid twice before. All eyes were on the first-seeded Iga Swiatek who is on an incredible 23-match winning streak.

In the first round, she was supposed to play against one of the qualifiers. However, the world number 1 withdrew from the tournament due to a right shoulder injury.

The third-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, who played the final against Iga Swiatek at the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix will kick-off her 2022 Madrid Open campaign against Amanda Anisimova. In the second round, she could meet another strong opponent, Liudmila Samsonova who also did very well in Stuttgart.

The second-seeded Paula Badosa will meet Veronika Kudermetova in the first round as she could meet winner of the match between Simona Halep and Shuai Zhaing in the second and another seeded player Coco Gauff in the third.

The fifth-seeded Karolina Pliskova will have a very interesting draw. The Czech player will meet a qualifier in the first round and in the second round she could meet one of the qualifiers again.
