WTA 250 tournaments held in the weeks after Wimbledon sometimes suffer from a dire lack of notable names. However, the 2025
Prague Open, scheduled from July 21st to 26th, has secured the commitment of several good players.
The 2024 Prague Open was played on clay, which allowed the players in the draw to use it as preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which occurred the week after, although some chose to travel early to Paris instead.
Last year's doubles received at least as much attention as the singles because of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova's participation to prepare for the Olympics. They won the title in Prague, but could not secure a medal in Paris as a partnership.
Czech fans getting to watch two home players and one of the most successful doubles partnerships ever was also exciting. Krejcikova and Siniakova won seven Grand Slams together before splitting at the end of 2023. They only reunited briefly for the Olympics.
This year, the tournament returns to being held on hard courts. A top Czech player, a former Grand Slam finalist, and a player who recently defeated
Coco Gauff, the 2025 Roland Garros champion, are among the players on the
entry list.
Linda Noskova should receive great support from her home fans in Prague. She will hope it is third time lucky after coming close to winning the title in 2023 and 2024 before ultimately being denied.
Nao Hibino defeated Noskova in the 2023 final. Although the Japanese player is a solid competitor and it was only the second final of Noskova's career, it felt like a golden opportunity for the Czech to win her home tournament.
Magda Linette's run to last year's title included an epic semifinal triumph against Noskova. The Pole won 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 after a grueling battle that was decided by Linette holding her nerve better in the deciding set tiebreak.
Dayana Yastremska will hope to continue her form from the grass-court swing. She finished as the runner-up to McCartney Kessler at the 2025 Nottingham Open and was also a quarterfinalist at the 2025 Eastbourne Open.
Xinyu Wang is another 2025 grass court finalist on the Prague Open entry list. The Chinese star defeated Gauff on her way to the final, but lost the final in three sets to the 2023 Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova.
That run gave Wang a significant rankings boost. She is a highly talented player who has often struggled for consistency. Her best tennis would give her a great chance of winning the title in Prague.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is the former major finalist on the entry list. The 2021 French Open runner-up possesses one of the most powerful games on the WTA Tour and tries to overwhelm her opponents in each match.
Eva Lys, who reached the 2025 Australian Open fourth round, always entertains fans with her athleticism and shot-making. The 23-year-old has significantly improved this season, and her chances in Prague should not be ruled out.
Wimbledon quarterfinalist
Marie Bouzkova, Rebecca Sramkova,
Elina Avanesyan,
Alycia Parks, and
Jaqueline Cristian are among the other players on the 2025 Prague Open entry list.
