The 2025 Dallas Open will welcome a stacked field of players, as many signed up for the newly upgraded ATP 500 event.
Since its inception in 2022, the Dallas Open was an ATP 250 tournament. Many US tennis players loved to compete at the tournament, which is why five out of six finalists in three editions were from the United States.
Reilly Opelka won the inaugural tournament in 2022, beating Jenson Brooksby in the final. Coincidentally, the two are the only two players who entered the 2025 edition of the tournament, which will run from February 3rd until 9th, using their protected ranking.
In 2023, Yibing Wu bested John Isner, but neither of these players will make an appearance in 2025. While Wu can still make it to the draw, Isner is obviously retired from the sport. And last year, Tommy Paul beat Marcos Giron in the final, and both of these players will compete in 2025 as well.
That means that out of six finalists so far, four of them will return to the event in 2025, showing that it's a well-organized tournament, which is why it also deserved a promotion to an ATP 500 event. This year, legends Kim Clijsters and Martina Hingis will also play an exhibition match at the event.
Although that will certainly excite many fans, most will be looking at the entry list for the 2025 Dallas Open, as this edition will mark the first year of the Dallas Open as an ATP 500 event, and the field of players certainly reflects that.
The top American talent will be on full show in Dallas, as virtually every successful US player appears on the entry list. Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, Brandon Nakashima, Alex Michelsen, and Marcos Giron are all set to compete.
That means seven out of the eight highest-ranked American players will compete in Dallas, with the only one missing out on the event being Sebastian Korda, who chose to compete in Rotterdam instead.
But there will also be many players from Europe who will try to spoil the party for the US tennis. Casper Ruud leads the field of those players, joined by Tomas Machac, Matteo Arnaldi, and Cameron Norrie.
The 2025 Dallas Open really features an incredibly strong entry list, as the tournament organizers will want to prove that the upgrade of the tournament was deserved.
