Preparations for the Australian Open will continue at the 2025 Adelaide International, and the prize money breakdown for the WTA 500 event has been revealed.
Since 2020, at least one iteration of the Adelaide International has been played yearly. Two editions were held back-to-back in 2022 and 2023 during the opening two weeks of those seasons.
Ashleigh Barty is the most successful women's player in the tournament's history. The home favorite and three-time Grand Slam champion won in 2020 and the first iteration of the 2022 season.
Iga Swiatek, who will play Coco Gauff in the United Cup final, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic, 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, and former US Open runner-up Madison Keys are the other former winners.
The caliber of those players proves how prestigious the tournament has been despite it only being five years old. Several top players compete at the tournament each year, and this year's lineup is another great one.
Jessica Pegula, who withdrew from the Brisbane International with an injury that has been bothering her since the WTA Finals, Danielle Collins, Paula Badosa, and Mirra Andreeva are among the players on the Adelaide International entry list.
Those competing at the WTA 500 tournament will play for a significant prize money pot. They are set to compete for the largest share of $1,064,510, distributed at different levels by the main draw rounds.
This year's Adelaide International champion in the women's singles will earn $164,000 and 500 ranking points. That amount is impressive for a WTA 500 event and will be an excellent award for whichever player wins the final.
Both finalists at the 2025 Adelaide International are guaranteed to earn a six-figure sum. The runner-up will be given $101,000 and 325 points for their efforts. Daria Kasatkina was the runner-up to Jelena Ostapenko last year.
Pegula and Ekaterina Alexandrova were semifinalists at the 2024 Adelaide International. In this year's iteration, the two players who replicate that achievement will be rewarded with $59,100 and 195 ranking points.
Elena Rybakina, who recently shocked tennis fans by reuniting with Stefano Vukov, was one of the losing quarterfinalists in 2024. The defeated quarterfinalists at the 2025 Adelaide International will receive $27,940 and 108 points.
Pegula, Navarro, Kasatkina, and Collins, the Top 4 seeds, will receive byes to the round of 16 if none of them pull out of the tournament. That means they are guaranteed to earn at least $15,170 and 60 ranking points.
Only one ranking point will be given to players who lose in the opening round of the 2025 Adelaide International. However, those players will also have a decent $10,190 added to their bank accounts.
Due to the high-quality players in the draw, the Adelaide International women's singles might be the standout event before the Australian Open begins. Fans in Adelaide should be treated to superb tennis throughout the week on both the women's and men's sides.
