Tsitsipas Set For Top 10 Return After Incredible Monte-Carlo Masters Run

by Zachary Wimer

Stefanos Tsitsipas will return to the Top 10 on Monday after a tremendous run at the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters this week.

Tsitipas famously promised a return to the Top 10 a couple of weeks ago, and he's done it with this spectacular run at the Monte-Carlo Masters. Did he know something we didn't? Certainly, but nobody really expected him to play this well suddenly.

This ATP Masters 1000 event has traditionally been a great one for him, as he won it two times. However, he's been playing below his level this year, so many assumed that he wasn't going to quickly turn things around.

He did, and it's great to see. If he wins the trophy, he could go as high as seventh in the ranking. Beating Casper Ruud in the final won't be easy, but he's already achieved what he had hoped to achieve when he came to Monaco.

He found himself again, and you could see the emotional release at the end of the match against Jannik Sinner when he dropped to his knees after winning. He admitted that winning the match was just a huge release for him.

"It did mean a lot to me because the comeback was crazy and I went through a lot emotional moments during the match. Winning brough a lot of joy to me simply I was able to let loose at the end."

With the win, Tsitsipas ensured that he will return to the Top 10, which wouldn't have happened if he hadn't won the semi-final match. He lost early last year to Monte-Carlo, so this run to the semi-final already gave him 475 points, enough to push him to number 9 as of now in the live rankings.

If he wins the final, he'll go as high as seventh, just shy of Ruud, who is guaranteed to stay sixth regardless of how the final match ends.
