The 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters is coming to an end, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Casper Ruud in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
Tsitsipas will make a comeback to the Top 10 on Monday, solidifying his place even further if he manages to win the final match at the event, which he has already won twice in his career, but even if he doesn't lift the trophy on Sunday, he'll be back in the elite ten.
Funnily enough, he promised that a few weeks ago when he was not playing as well as he is now. Coming back to clay certainly helped, and he's delivered. His win over Jannik Sinner was a bit lucky as the Italian was injured, and the umpire missed a crucial call on point that would see the Greek increase his deficit to two breaks in the third set.
On the other hand, Ruud's run is a bit less surprising. He's been playing well for a while, and this run is just a continuation of that. The surprising part was that he beat Novak Djokovic for the first time in his career in the semi-final.
Head-to-head:
Tsitsipas and Ruud have played a few times against each other, and it's been an interesting matchup so far. One of those matches was played this year, and the Norwegian was able to win it, but on clay, the odds favour Tsitsipas more, certainly in Monte-Carlo.
Stefanos Tsitsipas | Casper Ruud | |
1 | H2H | 2 |
12 | Rank | 10 |
25 | Age | 25 |
16-6 | 2024 W/L | 24-6 |
316-149 | Career W/L | 231-121 |
Prediction:
I think Tsitsipas will likely win again because of his serve. He has the better serve, and while Ruud can hurt him from the baseline, I think the Greek will be able to power himself past the Norwegian thanks to the serve.
Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in three sets.
