Rafael Nadal is undoubtedly one of the best tennis players in history, but he's also a very humble and outgoing person away from the tennis court.
Nadal has always been a very dedicated professional, from when he emerged as a prolific junior player and transitioned to becoming one of the best teenagers in the game.
There is a viral video of a very young Nadal after winning a trophy as a junior. In it, he shows his desire to get better and returns to practice as soon as possible.
Nadal's discipline and humility proved to be cornerstones in propelling him to lift a record 22nd Grand Slam trophy just days after celebrating his 36th birthday.
He already owned the record for the most French Opens, and no player will dominate the clay-court Grand Slam in the manner he did, possibly for his entire lifetime.
Moreover, Nadal has now won two more Grand Slams than his closest rival, Novak Djokovic, which tilts the GOAT debate in his favor. However, despite all this groundbreaking success, the Spaniard has not changed his personality.
After completing media obligations following the final of this year's Roland Garros, in which he defeated Casper Ruud in straight sets, the former World No. 1 reportedly still found time to go backstage and spend some time with all the stenographers, sound people, and production staff who made the event possible.
It is a nice gesture from Nadal and a show of appreciation towards the unsung heroes of a tennis tournament who allow him to do the thing he loves most.
It speaks volumes of Nadal's demeanor when you consider that he could have just gone back to his hotel and relaxed after several hours of play and hours of doing round interviews. He didn't because that's just Nadal, and that's why he's loved universally around the world.
"Was told yesterday that after winning the title at #RolandGarros yesterday, after doing all his press (hours), Rafa Nadal went backstage in the press centre to thank and spend time with all the stenographers, sound people, production staff etc. Class move."
