Nick Kyrgios lost his semifinal match at the 2022 Houston Open against Reilly Opelka, but what followed was definitely not a pleasant experience for him.

The 26-year-old Australian superstar played on the clay court after three years, and he was doing quite well at the Houston Open. However, Kyrgios was stopped in the semifinals by Reilly Opelka, who played a very good match and set up a final against John Isner, who on the other hand overpowered Cristian Garin.

Kyrgios was a slight favorite in the match, which could have made him an interesting pick for many gamblers wagering on tennis matches. However, things didn't go as planned for the Australian, or the gamblers, as he lost 3-6, 5-7 to the tall American in the semifinal of the ATP 250 tournament.

The issue of players receiving disrespectful messages after lost matches is, unfortunately, well-known in tennis, and now the Australian Grand Slam champion has also experienced the cruelty of people, and fell victim to some of the hateful messages.

After his loss, the 2022 Australian Open doubles champion shared three screenshots of the messages he received, which read: "Son of a b*tch" or "F*ck you, you piece of s*it. Quit tennis." Or another one which said: "You are f*cking dead, watch your back."

Although Kyrgios laughed at the messages in his stories, it was definitely not a pleasant experience for the Australian, and some players might have a more difficult time dealing with such messages.

It's certainly not a good experience to deal with death threats, and while it may be difficult for some to understand what the athletes are going through, the behaviour of some of the fans, or rather gamblers, is more than unacceptable.

For now, tennis players and tennis fans can only hope that this behaviour will disappear from the professional Tours, but that seems to be only a distant dream at the moment.
