Holger Rune, the 2019 Roland Garros Juniors champion, is still attempting to break into the Top 50 of the ATP Rankings.

After the 2022 Munich Open, the young Dane may be able to accomplish this goal by earning enough points to climb the rankings and qualify for the Madrid Open the following year. This year, however, Holger Rube was unable to directly enter the Madrid Open main draw and was forced to compete in the qualifying rounds. Because of the clash in the schedule with the tournament where he currently participates, he was forced to withdraw from the Madrid Open.

In the quarterfinals of the 2022 Munich Open, Rune faced another youngster - Emil Ruusuvuori. The yound Dane showed that he deserves to play a Masters tournament on clay as he didn’t give his opponent chance to do anything in the match.

From the start of the match, Rune dictated the pace of the match and finished it in less than an hour. After winning the first set 6-0 in just 27 minutes. He was on his way to delivering second bagel to his opponent when he led already 4-0. However, Ruusuvuori managed to win two games. Therefore, Rune advanced to the 2022 Munich Open semifinals after winning 6-0, 6-2.
