ATP Race Update: Sinner Still Top, But A New Name Enters Top 8

ATP Race Update: Sinner Still Top, But A New Name Enters Top 8

The ATP Race to Turn continues to conjure surprises even though it is still early days to make any pronouncement on who will qualify for the ATP Finals.

The top four remained unchanged from the start of the month. Jannik Sinner is still top of the race with 2,500 pints. The Italian is unbeaten in 2024, winning his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open and the ATP 500 in Rotterdam this month.

The next time Sinner will be in action will be in Indian Wells, so he is unlikely to be caught between now and the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament. Daniil Medvedev is playing in Dubai this week and can bridge the gap between himself and Sinner.

Medvedev sits in second place with 1,300 points and can win a maximum of 500 points in the Middle East, where he is playing his first tournament in the company of new coach Gilles Simon. Germany's Alexander Zverev has suffered a shock loss in Los Cabos.

He remains in third place on 1,235 points and ahead of Novak Djokovic, who is on an extended break after losing to Sinner in the Australian Open semifinal. Andrey Rublev is in fifth place, with Alex de Minaur sitting at a high of sixth.

Argentina's Sebastian Baez is a surprise entrant into the Top 10. The 23-year-old captured the Rio Open on Sunday, his biggest triumph on the ATP Tour. With 500 points added to his tally, Baez climbs to 7th place.

Grigor Dimitrov, Hubert Hurkacz and Taylor Fritz complete the Top 10. World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz ranks 14th in the ATP Race, which is worrying after a modest return on the South American in February.

Alcaraz will look to shake off a minor ankle injury and return to winning ways in Indian Wells to ascend the ATP race ladder. He could realistically climb into the Top 5 if he retains his title at the desert.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has qualified for the ATP Finals each year since 2019, is 29th and has a lot of work to do. A snippet of the ATP Race from this past week can be seen below.
