The Munich Open is one of the oldest tournaments in professional tennis, and its 2024 edition will have the largest prize money payout in the event's history.
This year, this ATP 250 event will run from April 15th to 21st before it undergoes an upgrade next season as part of the changes announced by the ATP in its 2025 calendar.
Some of the greatest tennis players have graced their presence on the tennis courts of Bavaria, including Ivan Lendl and Roger Federer, who feature on the tournament's roll of honor.
But it is the Germans who have dominated the podium, with five of the last 11 editions being won by home players. One of those is two-time champion Alexander Zverev, who will spearhead in this year's field.
Zverev faces direct competition from fellow Top 10 rival and defending champion Holger Rune. Jan-Lennard Struff is a menace when he plays at home and will be seeded a high of third. Two wild cards have been granted to Matteo Berrettini and Dominic Thiem.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, Andy Murray, and Jack Draper also make up a formidable lineup. Some of the most dangerous unseeded players include Jakub Mensik, Alexander Shevchenko, and Botic van de Zandschulp - last year's finalist.
In terms of prize money, players will battle for a share of €579,320, which is almost 3% higher than last year's total. This increase will also be reflected in every round of the main draw at the Munich Open.
The champion in Bavaria will earn €88,125 and receive 250 ranking points. Losing in the final will attract a paycheck of €51,400 and 165 points. Semifinalists will pocket €30,220 and receive 100 points.
Players will be remunerated at every level, meaning even those who stumble in the opening round will be compensated €6,215 but will not receive any points.
Second-rounders, meanwhile, will earn €10,165 and receive 25 points. The complete breakdown of prize money for the 2024 Munich Open has been compiled and can be accessed below.
