The 2024 Lyon Open is the last stop on the road to Roland Garros, and the draw for the tournament has been released.
This ATP 250 tournament, running concurrently with the Geneva Open in Switzerland from May 19th to 25th, will be played exclusively on clay. Last year, Arthur Fils collected his maiden ATP title in his home country, but the French teenager withdrew before the draw ceremony.
That has enabled Adrian Mannarino to secure a late entry into the draw and has been instilled as the third seed. The veteran is in the same half as top seed Ugo Humbert. The 25-year-old lefty will begin his campaign in the second round against one of Brandon Nakashima or Dominik Koepfer.
Humbert's project quarterfinal opponent could be one of Thiago Seyboth Wild, Pedro Martinez, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, or a qualifier. It is hardly a straightforward draw.
Mannarino, meanwhile, will play the winner of the match between Luciano Darderi or a qualifier. Fifth seed Frances Tiafoe has a tough opening match against Spanish clay-court specialist Jaume Munar.
In the bottom half of the draw, eighth seed Gael Monfils will face Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round. The winner will play wild card Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Lorenzo Sonego.
Fourth seed Franciso Cerundolo has a bye in the first round and has the fortune of drawing a qualifier in the second round. Alexander Bulbik leads this half as the second seed.
Although the Kazakh is not famous for his clay-court skills, he can fancy his chances of reaching the quarterfinal stage. Bublik will only need to win one match to get there, facing the match winner between Aleksandar Vukic and Mackenzie McDonald.
Argentina's Mariano Navone is guaranteed a Top 32 seeding on his Grand Slam main draw debut at Roland Garros. He'll want to go to Paris with momentum. The seventh seed will face Pavel Kotov in the opening round. The complete draw for the 2024 Lyon Open can be seen below.
