The 2024 Chile Open will run from February 26th to March 3rd and traditionally tends to close the curtain on the South American Golden Swing for another year.
Since the tournament became part of the ATP tour, the prize money has steadily risen yearly. And in 2024, that will still be the case. The tournament will commit $661,585 in prize money to reward all those who compete at the Chile Open.
To match this prize money, the field will be highly competitive, with a vast number of participants being from South America, as clay tends to be their beloved surface. The entry list was recently released and will be led by defending champion Nicolas Jarry.
The towering Chilean memorably won his first title on home soil last year and will look to become the first man to go back-to-back in Chile since countryman Fernando Gonzalez back in 2009.
Jarry will have to contend with the Argentinean duo of Sebastian Baez and Tomas Martin Etcheverry, who are expected to be his fiercest challengers during the week. The strong lineup will also see French teenager Arthur Fils use his clay court expertise to land another title on the surface.
But you cannot disregard the likes of Cristian Garin, Albert Ramos Vinolas, and Roberto Carballes Baena, who have won multiple titles on this surface and will be favorites to make it to the deep end of the draw.
All the 28 men playing at the Chile Open will battle for the largest sum in prize money in the tournament's history. The champion stands to make six figures worth of prize money. The amount quoted is $100,640, along with 250 ranking points.
The unfortunate finalist will not leave Chile's capital city emptyhanded. They will get a runner-up trophy and a compensation package of $58,705 in prize money and 165 points.
Those who stumble at the semifinal stage won't go unnoticed. They will earn $34,510 and receive 100 points. For some players, reaching the quarterfinal stage is always a heroic effort, and they will earn $19,995 and receive 50 points.
Prize money distribution begins in the first round. Those players who fail to win a single main draw match will pocket $7,095 but won't receive any points for their work. Below, we have tabulated the complete breakdown of prize money and points allocation for the 2024 Chile Open.
