The 2024 Adelaide International is one of two ATP tournaments that will run before the Australian Open and has committed its highest prize money purse for the men's event.
This ATP 250 event will be contested by 28 singles players who will vie to win a generous sum from the prize money pot in the region of $661,585 - the base level for tournaments of this category.
This year's prize money represents nearly a 3% increment from last year's total for each event (2023 had two stagings of Adelaide International) when Serbia's Novak Djokovic and Soonwoo Kwon were crowned as the Adelaide 1 & 2 champions, respectively.
The draw for the third edition has been released, but neither of the two reigning champions will return to Adelaide. There is a possibility that we could crown a new champion next weekend.
Sebastian Korda came closest to winning last year's title but spurned a match point in a loss to Djokovic in the final. He'll have a second bite of the cherry. The top seed at the tournament is Tommy Paul, who is on a semifinal collision with fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti.
But plenty of interesting names feature who might wreak havoc in the draw, one of whom is Alexander Bublik, who could cause the Italian trouble should they meet in the quarterfinal. Korda faces competition in the bottom half of the draw from the likes of Nicolas Jarry and the fast-improving Alexander Shevchenko.
Regarding the prize money breakdown, the champion will walk away with a cool $100,665 paycheck and 250 ranking points. The small increase in the prize money purse will be reflected in all rounds. The runner-up will take home $58,720 and earn 165 points.
Points distribution begins from the second round, and those players who fall at the stage will be rewarded 25 points and remunerated $11,610. Quarterfinalists collect 50 points and $19,995. The two losing semifinalists will each receive 100 points and $34,510 in monetary compensation.
