'You Don't Have To Be Better Than Her': Sabalenka Halts Thoughts About Replicating Swiatek

Aryna Sabalenka is not worried about replicating Iga Swiatek and her level because she wants to focus mostly on herself.

Trying to copy anyone in anything is generally not a great idea because it generally doesn't work. The Belarusian is a great tennis player, the second-best player on the WTA Tour right now, behind only Swiatek.

That's the truth, at least in the WTA Rankings and also when it comes to chances of winning a major on clay, where they battled twice in the past couple of weeks, with the Polish player winning both of those matches.

The second one was pretty one-sided, showing how good Swiatek is. She even showed it recently by beating Anastasia Potapova 6-0 6-0, which was just brutal.

Sabalenka actually watched that match and felt sorry for Potapova because it was just a crazy level from Swiatek, who admitted that she was fully in the zone.

"I was watching that match actually, and I was like, oh, wow, that's just another level that's so intense, and I felt so sorry to Anastasia because it was just too good from lga."

It was a pretty interesting moment for Sabalenka, who was bewildered by the level Swiatek could put up. She won't be trying to do the same but rather simply focusing on herself on her own tennis because she doesn't want to fall into that trap of comparing herself non-stop to other players.

"I was stopping myself of thinking to try to do the same, because you can get really crazy with that. I was, like, okay, no, Aryna. Just focus on yourself. You don't have to do better than her. It's okay."

"That's just her world like these bagels. This is something about lga. Just leave it for her. I will be nicer to my opponent."
