Caroline Wozniacki planned the early part of her season in detail; however, the early exit from the 2024 Australian Open might change her plans.
As an experienced veteran, Wozniacki understands the importance of a good schedule. It's even more important in her case because she's not the youngest anymore, and the better you plan, the more likely you are to find success.
A plan was in place for this year's early schedule, but it was quickly shattered. Wozniacki lost in the second round of the Australian Open, which was much earlier than she anticipated.
It was quite a disappointing exit, too, because Wozniacki felt it was a match that she should have won, and she is quite possibly right. It didn't happen, so now it's time for a new plan.
The initial plan had her skipping over the Middle Eastern part of the calendar, but now, after this early exit, she might reconsider that. Asked about her schedule in light of her early exit, the Dane said she didn't know right now but would come up with a new plan.
"I was planning on being here for a while longer, so honestly I don't know right now. I need to just kind of swallow this loss and then kind of go from there, see how I feel, what I want to do. Yeah, honestly, I don't know right now."
There is a deliberate strategy when it comes to how Wozniacki approaches things, and that's not to overload herself too much. She will play some of the bigger events, though not all of them.
We'll see if this early exit is enough to convince her to sign up for either the Dubai Championships or the Qatar Open in Doha next month.
If not, she might stick to her original plan, which is to return to either the Indian Wells Masters or the Miami Open.
