The 2022 Wimbledon will be held without Russian and Belarusian players as the talks are still ongoing if the decision to ban them was correct, as another Ukrainian player, Dayana Yastremska, also shared her opinion.

Yastremska currently plays at the 2022 Madrid Open, where she successfully fought through the qualifying and first round of the main draw. She will take on another qualifier, Marie Bouzkova, in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament.

Yastremska is also one of the players who had to run away from Ukraine due to an ongoing war in the country. She spent two days in the underground before her parents decided to send her to a safer location in Europe.

Since Wimbledon made the decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players, as an Ukrainian, Yastremska spoke about the decision, completely agreeing with it.

"How would I be able to play against those players at the tournament when all the world is talking about the war that is being fought against Ukraine? So I think the decision they are making is right."

"I think the decision they made is very respectful, they did the right thing. What they’ve done for Ukraine is the right thing. Other players are supporting it as well."

Her compatriot, Elina Svitolina also expressed her opinion on the situation a couple of days ago, when she spoke about the situation on BBC's Radio 5 Live Breakfast.

"We don’t want them banned completely. If players don’t speak out against the Russian government then it is the right thing to ban them. We just want them to speak up, if they are with us and the rest of the world or the Russian government."

"This is, for me, the main point. If they didn’t choose, they didn’t vote for this government, then it’s fair they should be allowed to play and compete."

Yastremska, who fled from Ukraine, was seen with the Ukrainian flag on the WTA Tour many times since and continues to remind all the people of the ongoing conflict.
