WATCH: Raducanu Shares 'Unorthodox Prep' That Started In Wheelchair

Emma Raducanu had hoped this year to be a really good one with a lot of tennis but instead, she did a lot of rehabilitation.

She didn't have to wait long to start the rehabilitation process because it happened in January while she was Down Under. A rain-plagued event in Auckland saw her retire from a match which she opened with a rare bagel. It was an injury that kept her from finishing the match, more precisely an ankle injury.

Raducanu created some controversy by blaming the slippery courts for the injury however it saw the tournament director snap back at her due to those comments. She went to Melbourne to prepare for the Australian Open despite having only about 10 days of getting it done and she managed to get ready and actually play at the event. It was an exit against Coco Gauff but many months later, Raducanu actually showed what the recovery process looked like backstage.

She started off by arriving in a wheelchair unable to place her weight on the foot and day by day she managed to work her way to not only walking properly but also playing. Unfortunately, that ankle injury persisted for much of the year as the Brit picked up wrist injuries as well. It resulted in her getting triple surgery to fix all of that with a return date unknown.

She will be in China for an exhibition event though it's unlikely that she will actually play any tennis. If she does that would be a major surprise and probably ill-advised so soon after three complicated surgeries that addressed injuries which Boris Becker even described as career-threatening.

The video in question was posted by Raducanu on social media and is actually an advertisement for the AirWayz platform where athlete shares their stories. She promised to post more of her current rehab on the platform in the coming weeks urging everybody to sign up.
