Naomi Osaka faced Caroline Garcia once again, and once again, she lost to the French player, this time at the 2024 Miami Open.

It seems that the former world no. 1 is just not able to avoid Garcia. She faced her in her first Grand Slam of her comeback, then, she played against her also in her first WTA 1000 tournament of her comeback, and now the two met in Miami.

After Osaka won the second match that they played in 2024, she was actually quite favoured in this match, but unfortunately for her, Garcia was able to produce a very solid level once again.

For the Japanese player, facing Garcia is becoming a nightmare, as she joked prior to the match that she thought her coach was joking when he told her who she would play against.

He wasn't, and Osaka could be certain about that the moment she stepped onto the court. Both players had a slower start into the match, facing break points early on, and Osaka even had to save set points in the first set.

She did that and the first set was decided in a tie-break, but it didn't matter match, as Garcia outplayed her opponent easily, winning the tie-break 7-4 and establishing a one-set lead.

Osaka actually looked like the better player early in the second set, being the first player to break and leading 4-2. However, Garcia had a better finish, which ensured her the win.

The French player first broke back, and she then added one more break, which was enough to win the match 7-6(4) and 7-5 to eliminate the four-time Grand Slam champion from the 2024 Miami Open.

Up next, Garcia will take on Coco Gauff, who won both of her matches at the event, and the young American will have the support of the home crowd in Miami.
