Former Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady confirmed her long-awaited return from injury on Sunday.

Jennifer Brady, who hasn't competed for precisely two years due to knee and foot injuries, will play at this week's W100 ITF tournament in Granby, Canada, adding she is super thrilled to be back as she announced via her Instagram page.

Initially, she was excepted to mark her comeback at this year's French Open, but suffered a minor setback, further delaying her return to tennis. Currently unranked, Brady will cash in on her protected ranking status to play at key WTA events in the second half of the 2023 season.

Brady worked tirelessly behind the scenes in an effort to return to competition. And after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, she is fit and raring to go again.

"Big week this week. Playing my first match back. It's my first tournament back in almost two years. I'm in Granby, Canada. Super thrilled and I just want to say it's about damn time finally, getting back out there playing again."

Brady won her only career title at the WTA 250 event in Lexington, Kentucky in 2020. A few weeks after that success, she reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open.

The American peaked at a career-high ranking of number 13 in February 2021, following a stirring run to the Australian Open final that year in which she did not relinquish a set until the quarterfinal. Brady went on to lose to Naomi Osaka in the championship match.

Brady's injury travails began at the Western & Southern Open in 2021 when she was forced to retire in her second-round match against Jelena Ostapenko. And after shutting down her season prematurely after Cincinnati, it was ominous that Brady's injury issues were extremely concerning. But she remained positive and optimistic even in the wake of early retirements by some of her peers due to injuries.

"Thanks everyone for your support during my time away it really meant a lot and really helped me to keep going."

Jennifer Brady is scheduled to play her first match against Kyoka Okamura in Granby on Monday evening.
