Paula Badosa explained that it took a while to break the ice with her now boyfriend and fellow tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Badosa and Tsitsipas first sparked rumours about their relationship earlier in 2023 with several cryptic online posts that gave fans hints into their budding life together. Eventually, the duo officially announced that they were a couple and ended their circulating rumours before the 2023 Stuttgart Open.
However, while the Badosa-Tsitsipas relationship may seem smooth today, with the pair often sharing aspects of their lives on social media, things were not always so easy going. In a joint Instagram live story, Badoasa explained that Tsitsipas was possibly playing hard to get when the players crossed paths on their respective ATP & WTA Tours.
"He never said hi to me, I was like what's wrong with him. He was like passing by me and not even like looking at me, not even like hi, hello, or good morning or whatever, nada nothing,"
"Now he is saying hi atleast or something, can't complain,"
Despite the flourishing relationship seemingly going well now off the court, things have been less engaging on the court. The pair were initially set to play in the Wimbledon mixed doubles tournament before Badosa had to withdraw when she received an injury during her second-round match against Marta Kostyuk.
Also, Badosa was scheduled to play alongside Wimbledon men's winner Carlos Alacaraz at the upcoming Hopman Cup in Nice. However, the ATP world number one was partnered with Rebeka Masarova, who stepped in as Badosa's replacement in the all-Spanish team.
World ATP number four Tsitsipas fared slightly better at the All England Club compared to his recent partner this season. The Greek player managed to navigate a tough draw to progress past Dominic Thiem, Andy Murray, and Laslo Djere before Chris Eubanks defeated him in a five-set epic in the round of 16.
