Iga Swiatek has been dominating this season so far and she will try to continue her domination also at the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.
The young Pole lifted already six trophies this season, and she won 49 out of 55 matches she played. The last time she lost in Canada, conditions were quite tricky.
She will try to learn from that. She's a natural clay-court player, but she has proven her qualities on the hard courts as well in the past. Speaking during her press conference, Swiatek admitted that dealing with different conditions is something she needs to learn to deal with.
"I'm trying to look long-term at the whole process and maybe think [where I want to be] in the next season. It's more my team who is kind of like convincing me that I should think long term."
"But I'm trying also to learn how to play in different conditions because it's so key, just when you're changing places every week. I feel like the first part of the season, I was pretty lucky because there were some really windy days, and I didn't play during these days. So right now, I'm also trying to be prepared for anything."
The WTA World No. 1 was obviously also asked about the retirement of the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, and their possible meeting in Cincinnati.
She admitted that it's hard for her to meet with the legend, as she's always surrounded by many people. On top of that, Swiatek is a bit shy, especially when it comes to meeting Serena.
"I have a hard time catching eye contact with Serena. It’s tough because she always had so many people around her, and I'm pretty shy and when I look at her I kind of forget that I'm here as the World No. 1."
