Nick Kyrgios found himself in unwanted drama when he was called out on some comments he made about Pablo Carreno Busta a few years ago.

Kyrgios always spoke his mind, which can be unusual for some tennis players because most try to be complimentary of each other. The Australian openly criticized several players, such as Casper Ruud, calling his game boring, and while he doesn't do that anymore, he did feel compelled to respond after being called out on social media.

The 'We Are Tennis" Twitter page called out Kyrgios in relation to some comments he made in 2020. The comment in question was made on Twitter when Kyrgios shaded Pablo Carreno Busta as a clay specialist.

The Australian player doesn't like the red surface, and it's not a secret, as he openly avoids it. In 2020, he tweeted about Carreno Busta, saying the Spaniard wouldn't be in the Top 50 on the ATP Tour if clay didn't exist.

"If clay didn't exist, dude wouldn't of even been close to the top 50."

We Are Tennis reminded him of that with a screenshot of the comment, captioning it with stats since then. Since 2020, Carreno Busta has won an ATP Masters 1000 title and has two Grand Slam semi-finals to his name.

On the other hand, Kyrgios hasn't achieved any of those feats. Still, he had a prompt response to those stats, pointing out the head-to-head between the two players.

Kyrgios and Carreno Busta met three times, and the Australian player won every single time, including recently in Halle. He won in 2015 on the clay courts in Estoril, he triumphed in 2016 on the hard courts at the Australian Open, and he also beat Carreno Busta at the Halle Open this year on grass.

"Nah I’m good, our head to head is a laugh."
