The 2023 Palermo Open will bring the clay-court action back as the WTA 250 tournament is set to run from July 17th to 23rd.
As one of the southernmost points in Europe, the 2023 Palermo Ladies Open, or as the tournament is sometimes called, the Internazionali Femminili di Palermo, will offer players not just a unique chance to earn valuable points and prize money but also play in a lovely setting in Italy.
The tournament's start dates back to 1988, and since then, it has been held 26 times. With the 27th edition in 2023, the Palermo Ladies Open will welcome a competitive field, combining home talent and international prowess.
Daria Kasatkina is one of the players that should compete at the Country Time Club in Palermo, Italy, and even though the Russian will be the biggest favourite, she'll be challenged by the likes of Mayar Sherif and Alycia Parks, but also home players Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Jasmine Paolini.
They will all fight for their share of $259,303 distributed at the tournament, but also valuable ranking points to improve their position in the WTA Rankings. The champion will have the most significant chance to do that with 280 WTA points and $34,228 earned in prize money.
On the other hand, the finalist in Palermo will get 180 ranking points and $20,226, while those that make it to the semifinals will be rewarded with 110 points and $11,275. Everyone will be rewarded at the tournament that was won by the likes of Mary Pierce and Dinara Safina in the past, as the distribution starts at 1 point and $2,804 for the first-round exit.
The list of Italian players that will be supported by home fans is long and also includes Lucia Bronzetti, Martina Trevisan, and Sara Errani. To see the full breakdown of what they will be competing for, check it out below.
