The 2023 Berlin Open is one of two WTA 500 grass-court events and the prize money on offer attracts many players from June 19th to 25th.

The WTA tournament in the German city was first held already back in 1896 and the tradition was upheld until 2008. But then, it disappeared from the calendar, before returning again for the 2021 event to the iconic Am Rothenbaum Rot-Weiss Tennis Club in Berlin, Germany.

Previously, the tournament was played on clay courts, but with the renewed event, it turned to grass courts. The first edition after the event's comeback was won by Liudmila Samsonova, and the defending champion in 2023 will be Ons Jabeur, with both players being on the start-studded entry list for the tournament.

The list of title challengers will be probably the longest from any WTA 500 tournament in the season with the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Caroline Garcia, Coco Gauff, and Maria Sakkari all taking part in a fight for 470 ranking points for the champion and their share of $780,637 in prize money.

In addition to those 470 points, the winner will get also $120,150 in prize money, while the runner-up of the tournament will get 305 points and $74,161 added to the bank account. Semifinalists will also get a nice reward in the German capital, with 185 points and $43,322 serving as last goodbye.

The prize money and points distribution starts already in the first round, but that may not be too attractive for many players. Only 1 point and $8,310 for the participation may not be enough and so players will certainly eye at least the second round with 55 points and $11,500 on offer.

The quarterfinalists in Berlin will get 100 points along with $21,075 and to see the full overview of the prize money and points distributed at the 2023 Berlin Open, be sure to see it below.
