Running from June 25th to July 1st, the 2023 Bad Homburg Open offers players the last chance to prepare for the grass-court Grand Slam.
Held in Bad Homburg, Hochtaunuskreis, Hesse, Germany at the Tennis Club Bad Homburg, the tournament is one of the newest on the WTA calendar. It's a WTA 250 event, which was first held in 2021, with the only two champions being home player Angelique Kerber and Caroline Garcia from France.
In 2023, three-time Grand Slam champion, Iga Swiatek, headlines the entry list, joined by the likes of Liudmila Samsonova, Victoria Azarenka, Donna Vekic, Bianca Andreescu, and Sloane Stephens.
The overall prize money distributed at the tournament amounts to $259,303 and there's also plenty of points on offer, something that players will be eyeing as the third Grand Slam of the season, played at the All England Club, approaches.
The most interesting, as always, is the prize for the champion. The winner of the 2023 Bad Homburg Open will get 280 rankings points and $34,228, while the finalist will have to settle with 180 points and $20,226 as consolidation prize.
The two beaten semifinalists will each get 110 points and $11,275, while the quarterfinalists will be awarded with 60 points and $6,418. Those that make it into the second round will be happy, because 30 points and $3,920 for a second-round appearance is certainly more appealing than only 1 point and $2,804 for a first-round loss.
