'I Don't Care About Other 2 Players': Swiatek Dismisses Big Three Talks

Iga Swiatek won her 4th Grand Slam trophy at the 2023 Roland Garros and demonstrated how she goes about her business.

Swiatek as a player is very focused. She only cares about tennis which she confirmed after the 2023 Roland Garros final, admitting to simply staying in her tennis bubble during the duration of the event.

She doesn't use social media, she doesn't read anything, and she's just focused on tennis and what she needs to do in order to give herself the best chance to win the next match. It worked once more as the Polish superstar beat Karolina Muchova to lift a 3rd Roland Garros trophy.

A sensational player who creates magic with her hands, she also demonstrated that she can create comedy as well. The conclusion of this event was pretty much expected. A lot of people agreed that the winner would likely be either Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, or Elena Rybakina.

Those three players have been the most dominant players this year clearly playing on a level higher than the rest. With Rybakina's debut at number 3 on Monday, June 12th they will officially be the 3 best-ranked players on the WTA Tour. At least one of them also featured in every big final since the start of the year, a streak that will be tested at Wimbledon.

The dominance has become so noticeable that reporters have started branding them the WTA Big Three. It's a bit premature but it's a fun thing reports do to create narratives and stories to engage the fans. It's a crucial part of sport but much like Rybakina, Swiatek too downplayed that narrative.

I don't really analyze that, because I know that this is something that kind of you guys created, and I understand that fans love that. You too. So I'm trying to just be focused on my work. And for me, there is no reason to do that.

Swiatek on the WTA big three narrative

The Pole really mostly focuses on herself and it's been working for her well. The storylines, the narratives, the comparisons, any of that doesn't really impact her career in any way but the way she focuses on things does so that's what she's doing.

I look at my clay court season and I see on every tournament I really played consistently. I reached, you know, like quarterfinals, semifinals, finals, I won Stuttgart, I won this tournament, I'm kind of just focused on myself and I don't care about the other two players.
