Iga Swiatek's third Roland Garros triumph and its celebration was marked with a bit of unforgettable clumsiness.

As the red clay dust settles in the heart of Paris, the iconic Roland Garros has once again witnessed an unforgettable tournament. Also in 2023, it was all about Iga Swiatek who proved to be better than the rest of the competition once again, winning her third title on the Parisian clay.

After the triumph, the Pole's joyous fumble with the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup added a dash of endearing human spirit to her third victory in Paris and fourth Grand Slam triumph overall, which also secured her that she will remain the World No. 1 on the WTA Tour.

The moment of sheer amusement, unexpected and lighthearted, took place when she accidentally dropped part of the venerable Suzanne-Lenglen Cup while hoisting it above her head. This incident revealed an unprecedented side of victory celebrations, often staged with precision and solemnity.

Swiatek, familiar with the weight and heft of the trophy from her past victories, inadvertently disregarded that the cup's lid could be lifted. Thus, amid her uncontainable joy and exultation, the lid fell off. It is said that unexpected events are the most memorable, and this spectacle of euphoria and genuine laughter will undoubtedly be etched in the annals of Roland Garros history.

After the win and during the winner's speech, Swiatek was really grateful to the fans that supported her, but also showed huge respect to her final opponent Karolina Muchova.

"First of all, congrats to Karolina. Members of my team are witnesses are that even since we first played, I knew that we're going to play these finals, and I hope we're going to have many more finals."

"So many people came from Poland, I really feel the love, so thank you. I know I've been saying it every year, but it's not really about the performance, I really love being here, and basically, it's my favourite place on Tour, so thank you guys."
