The 2022 Wimbledon Championship will be held from June 28th to July 10th, and it will be different from prior Championships in a variety of ways, beginning with the entry list.
The All England Club has decided that Russian and Belarussian players would not be able to compete at Wimbledon in 2022, and this decision has surprised the tennis world, with many players opposing the decision. As a result of the decision, the WTA has chosen to remove points from the tournament, leaving only prize money and glory to compete for, as the entry list is short on big names.
Aryna Sabalenka, Victoria Azarenka, Daria Kasatkina, Veronika Kudermetova and many more, therefore, won't be allowed to play at the event. Moreover, last year's champion, Ashleigh Barty retired from tennis and also won't take part in the event.
The entry list will be led by this season's most dominant player, Iga Swiatek. There will be many players trying to challenge her for the title, including the home start Emma Raducanu or experienced players such as Simona Halep or Angelique Kerber.
We will see also Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, Garbine Muguruza and many other players that will try to go deep in the tournament. But also the young American Coco Gauff who will try to make another solid result after reaching the final at the Roland Garros.
