Peyton Stearns is an American professional tennis player who was born on October 8, 2001, in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the United States. First picking up a racket at the age of 8, Peyton started showing signs early on that her future was destined for the world of tennis.

After a successful career that saw her enter the US College tennis system and win the NCAA Division I Women’s Singles title, Stearns was ready to test her might against the world’s best. Having tested her abilities on the ITF Tour, Stearns made the step up to the WTA Tour in 2021.

She made her main draw debut at the 2021 Silicon Valley Classic after participating in the doubles tournament. Unable to get past the qualifying competition of several big WTA tournaments, it was at the Cleveland Open where she made her main draw singles debut, eventually losing to fifth seed Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round.

Just one week later, she received a wildcard for that season’s US Open, making her main draw Grand Slam debut. It was a plucky performance from the young American, as she battled hard to lose to 28th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in three sets.

After reaping the ranking points by 2023, she was ready to push on and become a consistent performer. Her first final appearance at the Bogota Open in April 2023, where she only lost to number 2 seed Tatjana Maria in three sets, did wonders for her confidence and her ranking.

Later that season, she racked up her first Grand Slam win at Roland Garros, which set up nicely to go on and reach the furthest stage she had ever been at a Grand Slam – the US Open fourth round.

It was ultimately that performance that really sprung into the Top 50, with the youngster finding herself on a nice platform to achieve great things in the sport. Her first objective of getting that elusive first WTA trophy came off the objectives list very quickly when she won the 2024 Morocco Open in Rabat.
