Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has announced that she will host her foundation's annual charity gala this year, and use the money raised to fund the several causes her foundation has started in aid of the people of Ukraine.

Such causes include the Ukrainian tennis post-war rehabilitation program, as well as providing material support for families in Ukraine who have been severely impacted by the war.

Announcing the details on social media, the former World No. 3 said, "I’m holding the Annual Gala Dinner, which will be held for the first time at Monaco Yacht Club. The funds raised during this evening will be used to finance the programs set up by @esvitolinafoundation since 2019 including post-war Ukrainian tennis recovery program, but also to continue the logistical and material support provided to the families of beneficiaries severely impacted by the war in Ukraine."

Svitolina continued, "For me, this is an opportunity to once again remind everyone that the war continues. My goal is to gather those who support Ukraine and find new friends and partners for my Foundation. The team and I firmly believe in victory and are already thinking about the post-war restoration of the sports infrastructure. Young talents who fled the country because of the war should know that they will soon be very welcome at home."

The 28 year-old has been vocal with her support of Ukraine and its people throughout the course of the war, and hopes to use tennis as a means of rehabilitation for those affected, as well as to bring those who've fled because of the violence back home.

The 16-time WTA title champion has been missed on tour this year, as she and husband Gaël Monfils were expecting their first child. But Svitolina's presence has been felt by the tennis community and beyond, as she continues to raise awareness of the conflict in her homeland.
