The 2025
Wimbledon Championships, which start on June 30th, will be the season's next Grand Slam. As always, the financial and ranking point incentives on offer are considerable.
There will be many intriguing storylines to follow at the iconic grass court tournament.
Carlos Alcaraz is the two-time defending champion after overcoming Novak Djokovic in the 2023 and 2024 finals at SW19.
Alcaraz is now
also the two-time defending champion at Roland Garros after beating
Jannik Sinner in one of the most incredible matches ever played. The Spaniard saved three championship points in the fourth set before winning in a deciding set tiebreak.
That heartbreaking loss for Sinner makes Wimbledon feel even more important. The world No. 1 will be desperate to bounce back and win a maiden title in London and fourth major overall, which would put him back to one behind Alcaraz's five.
Djokovic will make another attempt at equaling Roger Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles. Winning Wimbledon would also take him to 25 Grand Slam titles, and put him ahead of Margaret Court for the most ever.
There are many contenders on the women's side.
Barbora Krejcikova was last year's surprise winner, but
Aryna Sabalenka, 2022 winner
Elena Rybakina,
Coco Gauff,
Iga Swiatek, and Mirra Andreeva will all be gunning for the title.
Men's and women's players receive the same
prize money at Wimbledon. Both singles champions will receive an incredible £3 million for their efforts, an 11% increase on 2024, and 2,000 ranking points.
Jasmine Paolini joined Djokovic as a runner-up in 2024. Although whoever loses the singles finals at Wimbledon will undoubtedly be devastated, they are still guaranteed to pocket £1,520,000 and receive 1,300 ranking points.
Rybakina, Donna Vekic, Lorenzo Musetti, and Daniil Medvedev were last year's defeated semifinalists. The
ATP and
WTA stars who replicate that achievement in a few weeks will earn £775,000 and 800 ranking points.
£400,000 and 400 ranking points will be given to the quarterfinalists. That is 6.7% more than in 2024, with the tournament making an effort to reward players after another successful iteration last year.
The men and women defeated in the round of 16 are guaranteed to receive £240,000 and 200 ranking points. Three main-draw wins are needed to achieve that, with no byes given to any seeded players at Grand Slams.
Those who lose in the round of 32 will still get a six-figure sum for their efforts. £152,000 and 100 ranking points are the rewards for securing two main draw triumphs at SW19, which is a more than decent reward for making it that far.
Players defeated in the round of 64 are set to collect £99,000 and 50 ranking points. Being beaten at the first hurdle will still be enough to earn £66,000 and 10 ranking points.
A few weeks of grass-court tournaments will be played before Wimbledon begins. Lorenzo Musetti was among the players who
withdrew from the 2025 Queen's Club Championships. The 2025 Halle Open and 2025 Berlin Open are other events that will be completed.
