The 2025 Jiangxi Open will be one of three tournaments held from October 27th to November 2nd, and its entry list has been revealed.
This year's Jiangxi Open faces stiff competition from the 2025 Hong Kong Open and the 2025 Chenniai Open. The event in Hong Kong has Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu on its formidable entry list.
Although the organizers in Jiangxi could not attract that much star quality, several notable players are still on the entry list for what should be an entertaining week of tennis at the WTA 250 tournament.
Lidumila Samsonova is the highest-ranked player on the entry list. She has been inconsistent in 2025 while producing flashes of the level some think could make her a top player if she found it more consistently.
The 27-year-old's best moment this season was reaching her maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon. Before that moment, Samsonova had been widely viewed as an underachiever at the four major events.
She did not drop a set in the opening four rounds before being eliminated by the eventual champion, Iga Swiatek. Her other notable moment from 2025 was reaching the final in Strasbourg, where she lost to Elena Rybakina.
Samsonova has been the least successful on hard courts in 2025. The Jiangxi Open gives her an opportunity to finish the year strongly and look to build momentum ahead of the 2026 season in January.
Yulia Putintseva has struggled more than Samsonova throughout the year. She enjoyed a career-best 2024 season and might have had hopes of performing even better after the progress made in the previous 12 months.
Instead, the Kazakhstani has tumbled down the rankings. The notoriously fiery Putintseva was also involved in controversy a few months ago when she had a heated interaction with Maria Sakkari, who said that nobody liked her.
Alycia Parks' game contrasts sharply with Putinsteva's craftiness. The American possesses one of the most powerful serves in the women's game, and does not take a backward step regardless of who she is playing.
Conditions in Jiangxi have not been overly fast in previous years, but that does not mean Parks cannot do damage. When her game clicks, she can trouble most players in women's tennis.
Laura Siegemund's game aligns more with Putinsteva's. The 37-year-old German has an excellent slice and is among the most adept players at changing the pace, which often disrupts her opponents.
Siegemund's quarterfinal run at Wimbledon was among 2025's most surprising moments. She deserves significant credit for producing one of her career highlights in singles at age 37.
Ann Li has been fun to watch in 2025. She reached finals at the Singapore Open and Cleveland Open and always tries to dominate the rallies in her matches with her heavy topspin forehand, which can generate impressive angles.
Rebecca Sramkova, Anna Blinkova, Camila Osorio, Katie Volynets, and Yue Yuan are among the other players on the Jiangxi Open entry list. Picking a winner from those names is challenging, which could make the tournament even more fascinating.
