The prize money details for the 2025 Dubai Championships have been revealed. Players will compete for their share of over $3 million at the second WTA 1000 tournament of the season.
For a while, the Qatar Open in Doha and the Dubai Championships alternated as WTA 1000 and WTA 500 tournaments. That meant that each year, one of these events was a WTA 1000 event, and the other one was a WTA 500 tournament.
But that changed in 2024. That was the first time when both of these tournaments were WTA 1000 events, and since it proved to be a great success, both will be WTA 1000 tournaments also in 2025.
That means that ahead of the Sunshine Double in the United States, there is now also a Middle Eastern Double held in Doha and Dubai. The tournament in Qatar is the first one of the two events held.
After that, players will travel to the United Arab Emirates to compete in the event, which is officially called the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The tournament will be held from February 16th to 22nd.
Unfortunately, the 2025 Australian Open champion, Madison Keys, struggles with injury problems, and she withdrew from the Dubai Championships after also withdrawing from the Qatar Open before.
Still, the field in Dubai will be incredibly strong. The likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina will all compete at this WTA 1000 tournament.
They will play for their share of $3,654,963, which is the total prize pool in Dubai. Naturally, the champion will take the biggest share of this sum. The 2025 Dubai Championships champion will win $597,000 as well as very valuable 1,000 WTA ranking points.
Although the runner-up will be disappointed by the loss in the final match, a very nice $351,801 might make their day better after the final. Although that sum might take some time to arrive in their account, they will be able to see 650 ranking points for reaching the final next to their name already on Monday after the tournament ends.
The two losing semi-finalists in Dubai will also not go home empty-handed. They will each get 390 points and $181,400 for their efforts in the United Arab Emirates.
In fact, no one will leave Dubai empty-handed. Even those that lose in the first round will be rewarded quite nicely. All players will get at least 10 points and $16,900.
However, making it to the second round will be incredibly rewarding. Players will get 65 points and $23,500 for passing the first-round hurdle.
After that, making the third round will earn them $41,600 and 120 ranking points, and the four losing quarter-finalists will all earn $83,470 and 215 WTA ranking points, which is almost equal to winning a WTA 250 event.
