The 2025
Bad Homburg Open will be played from June 23rd to 29th, and the tournament's
prize money and ranking points have been unveiled.
Despite being scheduled for the week before
the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, the
WTA 500 event in Bad Homburg has a superb entry list, including five members of the current Top 10.
Mirra Andreeva,
Iga Swiatek,
Paula Badosa,
Jessica Pegula, and
Jasmine Paolini are among the players on the entry list, meaning this year's Bad Homburg Open could be the best in the tournament's history.
Diana Shnaider, who is also on the 2025 entry list, is the defending champion. She overcame Donna Vekic in three sets to seal her first title on grass, showing that the 21-year-old can play well on all surfaces.
Watching Swiatek in Bad Homburg will be particularly interesting. Grass has been the Pole's weakest surface since the start of her professional career, and expectations are now even lower after she failed to reach a final in the last 12 months.
The women on the Bad Homburg Open entry list will fight for the largest share of the prize money and ranking points on offer at the tournament. A strong run could give some players a ranking boost before Wimbledon.
This year's Bad Homburg Open champion will receive €142,610 and 500 ranking points. 2018 Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber, Caroline Garcia, Katerina Siniakova, and Shnaider are the former champions of the event.
2019 US Open titlist Bianca Andreescu was the 2022 runner-up. €87,825 and 325 points will be awarded to the player who finishes as the losing finalist at this year's iteration of the Bad Homburg Open.
Shnaider defeated Emma Navarro in the semifinal during her run to last year's title. Navarro got her revenge over the Russian a week later at Wimbledon, beating her in what turned out to be a quarterfinal appearance at SW19.
The two losing semifinalists at this year's Bad Homburg Open will earn €51,305 and 195 ranking points. Viktorya Tomova was the other player who fell at that stage in 2024.
Each quarterfinalist in Bad Homburg is guaranteed to collect €24,950 and 108 points. All players who reach that stage will try their hardest to go further, but they are at least assured a decent reward regardless.
As always, the top four seeds at WTA 500 events like the Bad Homburg Open will receive byes into the round of 16. Pegula, Paolini, Andreeva, and Swiatek would be the top seeds if none of them withdraw from the tournament.
Players will take home €13,651 and 60 ranking points for losing in the round of 16. A single point and €9,829 are the rewards for not making it past the opening round of the 2025 Bad Homburg Open.
Andreeva made a slow start to the grass-court swing at this week's 2025 Berlin Open, losing in three sets to Magdalena Frech. The 18-year-old will try to find the form that
took her to maiden WTA 1000 titles at the Bad Homburg Open.
Jasmine Paolini shocked many by making it to last year's Wimbledon final. That means her matches on grass this year will also be fascinating to watch.
