Mirra Andreeva will become the WTA World No. 1 player in the future, according to Andy Roddick.

Andreeva has been the brightest star on the WTA Tour in the past few weeks. She sensationally won the title in Dubai, and only a couple of weeks later, the teenager also secured the Indian Wells Open title, beating the World No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka, in the final.

Ultimately, the 17-year-old player was stopped in Miami by Amanda Anisimova, but she still impressed with all of her results up until that point.

Andreeva's talent is incredible, and that can be proved by looking at her ranking. The Russian player is the only 17-year-old ranked inside the Top 140, and she's ranked sixth in the world.

The whole tennis world has been impressed by what she can do on the tennis court, and Andy Roddick, who wrote about Andreeva in his latest column for Betway, has been impressed as well.

According to the former American tennis player, it's impressive how physical Andreeva can be despite being only 17 years old.

"What impresses me most about Mirra Andreeva is her ability to stand up physically against the best players in the world. I thought that physicality was going to take some time. It’s not easy when you’re trying to beat people as physically dominant as Sabalenka and Swiatek and you’re 17."
"I’ve never questioned her tennis, but she’s serving now like she’s levelled up amazingly well in the last four or five months. She’s able to open up the shoulders on the forehand cross, her movement is already elite and there aren’t a lot of holes in her game."

Roddick thinks that Andreeva looks like a future World No. 1. Crazily, she might not be far away from that spot this year, as she currently trails Aryna Sabalenka in the 2025 WTA Race Rankings by only 1,015 points.

"I don’t know that anyone ever really questioned her tennis IQ, which is crazy to say about someone who’s 17. I said on our show a month ago that I thought she looks like a future World No. 1 for sure."

At the same time, Roddick doesn't like the fact that Andreeva immediately started being compared to the likes of Steffi Graf. Fulfilling such expectations seems to be unrealistic in this era.

"I don’t like to jump from winning in Dubai to Steffi Graf comparisons – that seems like we’re skipping a couple of years – but just based on how she’s playing, she’s going to be firmly in the conversation to be one of the top couple of players this year."
"She seems like she’s fluent on all surfaces, she had a great run at Roland Garros last year and it seems like she’s fine matching up against the top players in the world. Everything points to her being a contender sooner than later."
