Australian tennis maverick Nick Kyrgios was embroiled in another social media argument in response to a comment on X, calling him out for gloating about his influence on the sport.
The much-maligned Kyrgios is currently recuperating after undergoing knee surgery in January and shared news of picking up an untimely wrist injury on the eve of Wimbledon, which required additional treatment on its own, thus ruling him out for the entire US swing.
But Kyrgios has been the center of attention on social media where he's been extremely vocal, often engaging in endless feuds with tennis fans, pundits, and former players. In a new development, Kyrgios was caught in the mire when a journalist put him on the spot in the aftermath of the Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz epic final in Cincinnati.
The match garnered massive adulation as the world's top two players battled each other in close to four hours of breathtaking tennis. Kyrgios acknowledged his admiration of both players but differed with the opinion that he was not 'good for tennis'.

Just a few weeks ago, Kyrgios boasted of massive social media following as proof of his star power. He reckons his close to five million plus followers across Facebook, Instagram, and X, have driven the numbers in terms of tennis audience and told critics not to be too upset about it.
It is still unclear when Kyrgios will be able to resume full-time competition, although he shared a positive message of his supposed return at some point this season, requesting patience, as he's still got the motivation to get back and emulate what he did in his career-best season in 2022.
