Former ATP world no. 1, John McEnroe, and popular rapper, Travis Scott, are in the spotlight since a leaked video showed their argument.
As famous people, the two have multiple brand deals and collaborations, and one of them is with footwear and apparel giant Nike. The two even work together on one popular shoe, which the former tennis player wore during his career.
However, a recently leaked video shows that McEnroe and Scott could not agree on the final design of the shoe. The former American tennis player, who made the shoe popular, claimed that the rapper was not showing him enough respect before leaving the meeting, as shown in the leaked video.
Now, a couple days later, McEnroe appeared in a video on Instagram account 'The People Gallery' that seemed to be a pre-agreed collaboration.
In the video, McEnroe is seen wearing the famous Mac Attacks, but with his own custom style. The shoe has word "Jack" in "Cactus Jack" which is the name of Scott's record label, crossed out, and replaced by word "Mac."
"I was wearing these things in the ’80s before this guy was born. Now, all of a sudden Travis Scott’s got this thing, Cactus Jack, so I just made it Cactus Mac. I mean, come on. A bit of respect — that’s all I’m asking for."
McEnroe wore the shoe back in 1984, when he won the Wimbledon and US Open, claiming her wore the shoes even before the rapper was born, as 32-year-old Scott was born in 1991.
On top of that, McEnroe showcased a custom t-shirt during the video, which had a "Cactus Mac" logo on it. Since both videos went viral online, many fans have suggested that the whole argument was fake, with the two trying to increase the popularity of the shoe.
The fact that McEnroe was so fast to respond to the leaked video with another video, where he wears custom shoes and a custom t-shirt, may support these claims, but unless one of the two speaks about it, it remains a mystery.
