WATCH: Djokovic sends kisses to fans and gets booed after reaching Wimbledon final

Novak Djokovic didn’t start that well in the 2022 Wimbledon Championships semi-final, losing the opening set, but he did win the match in the end in four sets, and he knew how to celebrate it.

Djokovic arrived at Wimbledon as the number-one favorite to win the event. This year has been tough for him as he arrived in London without winning a single Grand Slam in 2022.

That’s a bit uncharacteristic for the Serbian, as he has won at least one by the time he came to London in recent years. This year, he didn’t win the Australian Open because he was deported from the country.

He didn’t win the French Open because Rafael Nadal stopped him with a very strong performance. Now, at Wimbledon, he’s doing things that fans are used to him doing.

He has been playing superb tennis, even though his most recent match was a bit of a rollercoaster. Cameron Norrie is not a player expected to beat Djokovic, but he won the opening set in their meeting, which was impressive.

Djokovic, though, turned things around in the next three to end up winning the match in four sets. That’s the outcome most fans expected, and it happened, though, with some challenges along the way.

When it comes to celebrating the win, Djokovic did have something special ready as he was fully aware that fans wouldn’t like him winning. Norrie is British and obviously had the crowd backing him for most of the match.

When the British player was only a few points away from losing the match, some tried to do all they could to change the result of the match and started shouting between the first and second serve or a moment before Djokovic was about to hit the ball.

Playing against the crowd is nothing new for Djokovic, as he’s done it for many years. This was hardly the most hostile London crowd he faced, especially compared to the 2019 Championships when he faced Federer in the final.

How did he react after winning against Norrie? Well, he sent the crowd some kisses as they kept booing him. He also added a comment when asked about it by the media.

"Those were for someone who was cheering for me."
