In the last quarterfinal match of the 2022 Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal fights with Taylor Fritz for the last semifinal spot at the tournament.

Already before the tournament started, it was obvious that Rafael Nadal is not 100% fit. However, he managed to beat all of his opponents so far and reach the quarterfinals of the 2022 Wimbledon. Yet, in his fifth match, he appeared to be struggling physically much more than in the previous matches and also dropped two sets for the first time at the event this year.

Images from the Wimbledon 2022 quarterfinal match between Rafael Nadal and Taylor Fritz show the Spanish player clearly injured in the abdominal muscle. It is not the first time that the Spaniard has encountered difficult circumstances on a tennis court, but it is unusual to see members of his team express their desire to leave the match in such a direct manner.

This is what his sister Maria Isabel, father Sebastian, and manager Carlos Costa did when Nadal went to the changing room to be attended to by the physio. However, the 22-time Grand Slam champion decided to continue and fight for his 23rd Grand Slam trophy.
