Tommy Paul proved to be the best player at the 2024 Dallas Open, winning his second title after beating Marcos Giron.

The two Americans were by far the best at the ATP 250 event in Dallas. While Giron was having probably the best week of his life, Paul was playing really solid tennis, even beating Ben Shelton in the semifinals.

The two met in the final, and knowing each other from multiple matches in the past, it was always expected to be an exciting clash, and it certainly proved that way, as both played really solid tennis.

In the first set, both got one break, so as a result, a tie-break had to decide the winner of the opener. Paul controlled it from start to finish, winning the tie-break 7-3 to take the opening set of the final match.

In the second set, however, Giron didn't allow any break points, and after using his third chance, the world no. 67 served for the set, and he served out the second set in style, winning it 7-5 to force the decider.

But that wasn't enough for Giron, who couldn't counter Paul in the third set, and after getting an early break, the second seed cruised towards a three-set win 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-3 to win his second career title after the 2021 Stockholm Open triumph.

On Monday, he will move to 14th place in the ATP Rankings, which is only two spots away from his career-best. Giron, on the other hand, will rise to 52nd spot, three spots away from his career-high 49th position.

Paul will want to use this triumph to fuel him for the rest of the season, as he will be looking for more success on the home soil. In March, he will be certainly one of the dark horses during the Sunshine Double.
