Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner might be the most spectacular matchup that we have in tennis right now, and it's coming up at the 2024 Australian Open.

An Australian Open semi-final should be a spectacular matchup, and we're getting it as Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner will face off. The Serbian bested Taylor Fritz in a pretty good way, keeping it in four sets and avoiding playing five hours on the court.

Jannik Sinner had an even better time as the Italian bested Andrey Rublev in straight sets, keeping his total time on the court relatively minimal. He spent about 11 hours in court compared to Djokovic, who has spent almost 14 hours in court so far.

That might prove an issue for Djokovic if the match extends, but then again, Rod Laver Arena is his house, and there is no court he's tougher to beat than this one.

Head-to-head:

When it comes to their direct matches, it's Djokovic who has the upper hand, but Sinner has closed the gap by a lot lately. Overall, it's 4-2 for the Serbian, but Sinner was winless just a few months ago. The first came at the ATP Finals in the group stage, which was a huge moment for Sinner.

He lost to Djokovic in the final of that competition, which is important to note because that was the most important match to win at that event. Revenge for Sinner came at the Davis Cup, where he bested Djokovic again en route to winning the trophy for his nation.

Prediction:

It's an interesting matchup that, oddly, seems mostly decided by Sinner. We know what we're getting from Djokovic, but Sinner is the wild card. He could be amazing, but he could also be pretty okay.

The former could win him the match, but the latter won't. From what we've seen so far. I'm going to back him to actually get it done.

Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in four sets.
