On Thursday, Novak Djokovic received good news when some of the restrictions in the United States loosened and so his chances of entering the country increased.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is in charge of maintaining the health and safety of US people, released revised guidance on Thursday that relaxes limitations on social distancing and isolation. In the next revision of the rules, also rules for the entry to the United States should be looked into and that gives Novak Djokovic a possibility of competing at the 2022 US Open.

However, no change came soon enough for the 21-time Grand Slam champion to be able to travel to the United States in time for the 2022 Cincinnati Masters, which starts on August 14th, two weeks before the fourth Grand Slam of the season.

Therefore, the Serbian withdrew from the event but most probably continues his preparation for the US Open in his home country as he also hinted before, when he stated: "I am preparing as if I will be allowed to compete, while I await to hear if there is any room for me to travel to US. Fingers crossed!"
