Rafael Nadal confirmed that he would play at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as well as at the exhibition tournament at the Hurlingham Club prior to the grass-court major.
The 2022 Tennis Classic at the Hurlingham Club will be held from June 21st until 26th. Players often players use this tournament as a preparation for Wimbledon, as the Hurlingham Club is located only 20 minutes from the All England Club, where Wimbledon takes place.
This year, the field of players will be traditionally very strong as it will include players such as Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, Felix Auger-Aliassime, but also Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.
At his press conference on Friday, the 22-time Grand Slam champion confirmed that he would take part in the event once again, as he played in the Hurlingham also in the past.
"After three years without playing on grass you have to be patient - every day I have been improving a little in the sensations. I have one week of training left in London."
"I hope it will help me to become competitive at Wimbledon. I will travel to London, play two matches there before the tournament and follow my normal schedule to prepare for Wimbledon."
After the Spaniard's press conference, Djokovic was announced as the latest addition to the line-up of the 2022 Tennis Classic in the Hurlingham Club as well.
Since Alexander Zverev won't play at Wimbledon this year, and Daniil Medvedev won't be able to enter it, Djokovic and Nadal will be the Top 2 seeded players in the All England Club in the men's singles draw.
Prior to the tournament, they can test out what it could look like in the final of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, where they are likely to meet, as the draw won't make it possible for them to meet earlier.
