Novak Djokovic returns to courts in 2022 at the Monte-Carlo Masters as the draw for the first clay-court Masters' tournament, which will be played from April 10th to 17th was released.
The biggest stars of the tennis world will meet in Monte Carlo, Monaco, for the first clay-court ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the 2022 season. Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev, and many more will be part of the star-studded draw.
Novak Djokovic will be the first-seeded at the 2022 Monte-Carlos Masters as he will face the winner of the first-round match between Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Marcos Giron in the second round.
However, in the quarterfinals, he can meet young Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz. The young Spaniard is the eighth seed and will meet the better between Botic van de Zandschlup and Sebastian Korda in the second round.
Another possible quarterfinal matchup awaits the fourth-seeded Casper Ruud, who had a successful Sunshine Swing when he reached the final in Miami, and Cameron Norrie.
Both can, however, experience some obstacles on their way to the quarterfinals as their part of the draw is packed with names such as Aslan Karatsev, Grigor Dimitrov, Hubert Hurkacz, and Gael Monfils.
In the bottom part of the draw, the sixth-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime will have a difficult journey as he will meet the winner of the match between Benoit Paire and Lorenzo Musetti in the second round.
Then, he can face the likes of Diego Schwartzman or Karen Khachanov, and if he reaches the quarterfinals, he can meet the third-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The fifth-seeded Andrey Rublev will await Alex de Minaur or a qualifier in the second round, with the second-seeded Alexander Zverev having a similar faith as he can face Federico Delbonis or another qualifier.
Notable names in the draw include Stan Wawrinka, who comes back from an injury and will face Alexander Bublik in the first round. Also, a first-round clash between Hubert Hurkacz and Gael Monfils will be one to watch.
One more player who stands out in the draw is former world no. 5 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who will end his career at the 2022 Roland Garros. The Monte-Carlo Masters will be one of the last tournaments for the Frenchman, and he'll play Marin Cilic in the first round.
