Novak Djokovic still doesn't know whether he will be allowed to compete at the US Open this year, but he's been gathering support from every side.

The last Grand Slam tournament of the season starts on August 29th, which is less than two months away. However, the conversation about Djokovic's participation is louder than ever.

The Serbian player lifted his 21st Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Championships, beating Nick Kyrgios in the final, and the focus quickly turned to the following major.

The reason is that Djokovic could level Rafael Nadal's 22 Grand Slam titles in New York, but there is one obstacle in his way. It's not any of his opponents, as the Serbian showed in London, but a possible inability to compete.

Not because of his health or any other issue, but because he's currently unable to enter the United States because of his unvaccinated status. Unless the rules change before the US Open, Djokovic likely won't be allowed to compete.

After winning at Wimbledon, he reiterated that he doesn't plan to get vaccinated to be allowed to compete. Because of that, he has to wait for some positive news from the United States.

Right now, there aren't any coming his way, but Djokovic received plenty of support from some current and former players, including John McEnroe.

McEnroe is the former ATP World No. 1 player and a four-time singles US Open champion. According to the former American player, Djokovic should be allowed to compete at Flushing Meadows.

As probably the top favorite to win the title, his absence would be disappointing. McEnroe believes there must be a way to allow the Serbian player to come to the country and compete.

"These politicians are getting in the way too much - they did it in Australia. Let the guy come in and play in the US. I mean come on. This is ridiculous. You can agree to be tested. There’s got to be a way around this."
