After destroying their first round opponents at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo, Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis easily cruised also through their quarterfinal match.

Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis are the top-seeded duo at the 2022 Japan Open and they are proving their qualities so far. In the quarterfinals, they took on Spanish duo - Pedro Martinez and Bernabe Zapata Miralles as they wanted to reproduce sensational shotmaking from previous match.

All players were solid on their serves until the fifth game when the Australian duo had a break point. However, they couldn't use their chance and it seemed that the first set will be decided in a tie-break.

However, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis got another break point chance and this time they were successful. Yet, they couldn't use their chance to finish off the set and got broken too.

But in the next game, they won four points in a row to get a crucial break and eventually win the first set 7-5.

In the second set, both duos had plenty of break points, but the 2022 Australian Open champions prevailed after they broke the Spanish duo twice and won the match 7-5, 6-4.

They will play against Mackenzie McDonald and Marcelo Melo in the semifinals of the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo.

Currently, Kyrgios is world no. 13 in doubles rankings and if the Australian duo wins in Tokyo and Marcel Granollers doesn't win with Horacio Zeballos in Astana, he will move to 12th place.

On the other hand, Kokkinakis will surely reach his new career-high as he will move up to at least 18th place. In case of final appearance, he will be 15th and can move up to 14th if they win the event.
